This book really brought history of this time period to life. There were many details revealed about the lifestyles of the various types of people that I had never heard before, such as what they did for entertainment. I can well imagine those early settlers horse swapping or gander pulling. It really gave me a feel for their characters and what really mattered to them, as well as a very detailed depiction of the history of the state. Make sure you set aside a good sized block of time before you actually start reading it because it is likely to suck you in like a well-written novel, especially if you have a favorite ancestor who lived in Georgia during this time period. I highly recommend this book to genealogists and history buffs. It is a rare treasure.Product details

The Story of Georgia and the Georgia People 1732 to 1860 George Gilman Smith 9781146409827 Books Reviews
Helps you to get know your ancestries in better.
Very good history of Georgia and the early citizens.
Great information for Historians and Genealogists.
Interesting book. Received value for what I paid. Probably won't use it much but doing genealogy you never know.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this early history of my home state. It needs a linkable index, and grammar corrections. The text is horrible.
If you are researching Georgia's history, this is for you. It is a thorough, monumental work--boring but useful
I am thankful these books are more available.
